Practical Exercise: Find Your Light

Practical Exercise: FIND YOUR LIGHT

Here is this week's practical exercise.

I want you to take a piece of paper and write three questions.

QUESTION ONE:

What is something uniquely beautiful about me that I sometimes hide?

Maybe it is your humor.

Your sensitivity.

Your creativity.

Your intelligence.

Your spirituality.

Your compassion.

Your enthusiasm.

Your unconventional way of seeing things.

Don't dismiss it.

Name it.

QUESTION TWO:

Where does my light naturally shine?

When are you most alive?

When do people naturally come to you?

What do you do that seems to give energy rather than take it?

Where do you lose track of time because you are fully engaged?

These may be clues to your spiritual gifts.

QUESTION THREE:

Where am I being invited to shine more fully?

Perhaps there is a conversation.

A relationship.

A creative project.

A ministry.

A friendship.

A boundary.

An act of service.

A dream.

Something that requires you to stop hiding.

Then write:

“This week, I will let my light shine by…”

And finish the sentence.

Make it specific.

Not:

“I'll be more spiritual.”

Instead:

“I will call the person who needs encouragement.”

“I will sing.”

“I will volunteer.”

“I will tell someone I love them.”

“I will finally begin that project.”

“I will speak honestly.”

“I will forgive.”

“I will laugh.”

“I will stop apologizing for who I am.”

Let your light become an action.
